2011 Proud Market

Date: Saturday, May 28 2011. Rain or Shine.
Time: 8 am until the plants run out!
Location: Rochester Civic Garden Center
As always, Proud Market, the Garden Center’s annual plant sale, will take place on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, in the grassy area out front of Warner Castle. This is at least our 26th annual plant sale; no one remembers exactly when it started, or what the name means. But it is believed that “Proud Market” refers to the pride with which sellers offer their special plants.
Many of you are familiar with this event, and need no further encouragement. In case you haven’t yet made it to Proud Market, it is a great opportunity to buy all manner of plants, many of them unusual or hard to find, at really great prices. We have several regular vendors–garden clubs and small independent plant specialists– and you can count on some real “finds”. Lots of perennials, shrubs and trees, as well as annuals and vegetables. Come early because plants sell out fast.
Donate Your Extra Plants to Benefit the RCGC

The RCGC will be selling plants at Proud Market to raise money to support our education program. We need your donations of potted plants, pieces of perennials leftover after division, extra annuals, etc. Be sure to label your plants, preferably with:
- Common Name
- Botanical Name
- Eventual Size
- Sun, soil, & moisture preferences
- Hardiness
- Bloom time & color
- At a minimum, please note the common name and bloom color.
Drop off your plants at the Garden Center any time during the week before May 23. If stopping by after hours, you can leave them in the courtyard behind Warner Castle.
We thank you for your support and help – we couldn’t do it without you!
