The Plantsmen of Rochester Parks
The Plantsmen of Rochester Parks is a wonderful history of the men who created our local park system. Copies of this book can be purchased at Warner Castle for $16.95 plus tax, for a total of $18.31, or online here for $18.31(including tax) plus $3.32 shipping for a total of $21.63. Proceeds benefit the Rochester Civic Garden Center’s endowment fund in memory of Alvan R. Grant.

Directions to Warner Castle, 5 Castle Park, Rochester NY 14620
From South and Southeast – Take I-390 North to Exit 16, marked East Henrietta Road (Rt. 15A) and West Henrietta Road (Rt. 15). Turn right onto East Henrietta Road (Rt. 15A). Proceed straight; East Henrietta Road will meet Rt. 15 (Mt. Hope Avenue). Continue to proceed straight on Mt. Hope Avenue (Rt. 15) approximately 3/4 miles. Turn right onto Reservoir Avenue. Rochester Civic Garden Center driveway (“Castle Park”) is the first left.
From Southwest – Take I-390 to Exit 16A, West Henrietta Road (Rt. 15). Turn left at the light going towards West Henrietta Road. Turn left at the next light which is West Henrietta Road (Rt. 15). As soon as you cross the Erie Canal and I-390 the road becomes Mt. Hope Avenue (Rt. 15). Proceed straight approximately 1.5 miles. Turn right onto Reservoir Avenue. Rochester Civic Garden Center driveway (“Castle Park”) is the first left.
From North, Northwest – Take I-490 East to Exit 15, Rt. 15 and South Avenue. Turn right at the 2nd light onto Mt. Hope Avenue (Rt. 15). Proceed on Mt. Hope Avenue (Rt. 15) approximately 1/2 mile. Turn left onto Reservoir Avenue. Rochester Civic Garden Center driveway (“Castle Park”) is the first left.
From North, Northwest alternate route suggestion: Take I-390 South to Exit 17, Scottsville Road. Turn left onto Scottsville Road. Bear right onto Elmwood Avenue. Turn left onto Mt. Hope Avenue (Rt. 15). Proceed on Mt. Hope Avenue to Reservoir Avenue. Turn right onto Reservoir Avenue. Rochester Civic Garden Center driveway (“Castle Park”) is the first left.
From Northeast – Take I-490 West to Exit 17, Goodman Street. Turn left at the light and proceed straight on Goodman Street approximately 1 mile. Turn right onto Highland Avenue and proceed about .7 miles. At Mt. Hope Avenue (Rt. 15), turn right. Your first right will be Reservoir Avenue. Rochester Civic Garden Center driveway (“Castle Park”) is the first left.
