1017MH Rochester’s Horticultural History – Fall Walking Tour of Mt. Hope Cemetery

Tuesday, October 17

1:30-3 pm

From the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825, and through the 20th century, Rochester was a center for horticulture and the nursery business. On this tour of Mt. Hope Cemetery, led by Dennis Carr of Friends of Mt. Hope Cemetery, and timed to take advantage of the cemetery’s beautiful fall foliage, we’ll visit some different areas of Rochester’s most important romantic landscape. Mt Hope Cemetery is the permanent resting place of many of the innovators who made Rochester the Flower City, and Dennis will highlight aspects of the rich history beautifully preserved here, as well as some of the horticultural treasures we haven’t visited on previous tours.
