0510NG, 0621RC Soirées

Join us for these informal get-togethers. Enjoy some refreshments and a chance to visit with fellow enthusiasts about our favorite subject – gardening! Proceeds from the Garden Soirées help support the RCGC education program.

Fee: $12 for one, $20 for both.

0510NG The Nashes' Glorious Garden in May

Thursday, May 10

6:30-8 pm

In the words of Bob Nash: “the weather in early May usually triggers amazing plant growth – a great antidote to the Winter Blues! Mid-May is picture perfect for spring color in Rochester.” Many of us were wowed by this garden on the 2010 July garden tour and at last year’s April soirée (lovely despite the snow). Join us in mid-May at the peak of spring bloom, when we’ll find a show of primulas, heathers, daffodils, trillium, flowering currant, mertensia, rhododendrons, ‘Herbert’ azaleas, bleeding hearts, the new foliage of Japanese maples, and more. Directions will be emailed (or mailed) before the soirée.

0621RC Visit Rochester’s Castle

Thursday, June 21

6:30-8 pm

Celebrate the beginning of summer with tours of historic Warner Castle and its grounds, including the Alling DeForest-designed courtyard and sunken gardens. We are fortunate to inhabit an important part of Rochester’s horticultural history. Enjoy refreshments and guided tours of the renovated Castle gardens and the interior of this elegant home, built in 1854 by Horatio Gates Warner to resemble his ancestral castle in Scotland. While you are here, peruse RCGC’s library, the finest horticultural library in the region.
